A rooftop heat pump machine is supported by two parallel W610x155 wide flange steel beams spanning across a metal deck and underlying structural steel joists. Shim plates are provided as required beneath the beams resting on the deck. An extra light gauge transition strap is attached using powder-actuated fasteners and side lap screws per the deck schedule, typically at the beams. The underside of the deck is set at a high point elevation of 108.48, and the underside of the joists and trusses is set at 106.50.
