This wall head detail shows a cold-formed metal stud framing wall terminating beneath an overhead metal deck. The metal studs are capped with a slotted deflection track that allows for structural movement. Both sides of the wall are finished with one layer of five-eighths inch impact-resistant gypsum wallboard, with mold-resistant gypsum wallboard specified at wet walls and type X at fire-rated partitions. Batt insulation is installed within the stud cavity where required. Acoustic sealant is applied on both sides for non-rated conditions, while firestop sealant is used for rated and smoke barrier applications.
