A welded buckling-restrained braced frame gusset plate connection occurs at the bottom flange of a strong-axis frame beam. Grade 50 stiffener plates are welded to both sides of the gusset plate, matching the width of the frame beam. A Grade 50 bottom plate matching the beam width connects to the gusset plate using demand critical complete joint penetration welds. The beam flanges and web connect to the gusset plate with demand critical complete joint penetration welds incorporating weld access holes and erection backing tabs. Concrete over metal deck bears above the connection assembly, and reference notes point to sheet S3.04 for additional information.
