A cross-laminated timber deck bears on a four-inch pressure-treated wood sill that sits atop a concrete retaining wall. The sill plate is secured by five-eighth-inch diameter by six-inch embedded anchor bolts spaced at forty-eight inches on center with recessed nuts. A two-inch compressible joint filler separates the cross-laminated timber deck from the vertical face of the retaining wall. The cross-laminated timber deck is left unfastened to the wood sill plate.
