Additional rebar is placed around clustered openings in a concrete slab on metal deck. The layout specifies a one-foot-six-inch minimum extension or hook with a three-quarter-inch clear cover. Additional number four reinforcing bars at six inches on center are required when dimension A is less than two feet or when dimension B is less than one foot. A deck closure piece or formed edge is supplied by the steel deck contractor, with the deck cut at least seven days after the concrete is placed. Additional reinforcement is positioned in the bottom flute for reinforcement running parallel to the flutes.
