Metal deck bearing on steel beams requires specific shear stud placement and puddle weld spacing relative to the deck orientation. Studs are positioned on the side of the flute toward the nearest end of the beam with a minimum one-half inch clearance. Additional studs are provided at the beam ends to meet the count required on the structural plan. Puddle welds secure the deck where no stud is provided, maintaining specified maximum and minimum spacings.
