Two five-eighths-inch vertical stiffener plates are positioned below and typically aligned with the walls of the hollow structural section column. The stiffeners provide internal load distribution and prevent local wall yielding or buckling under concentrated loads. The assembly connects intersecting structural members to the hollow structural section profile with alignment maintained across the member faces.
