A structural steel column bears on a seven-eighths-inch thick base plate over one inch of non-shrink grout atop a reinforced concrete spread footing. The column is secured with four three-quarter-inch diameter anchor rods featuring plate washers and nuts top and bottom, set into half-inch oversized holes with plate washers. All steel below the slab is coated with asphaltic emulsion. The spread footing is four feet six inches wide and one foot four inches deep, reinforced with five number five bars top and each way with twelve inches minimum spacing and specified concrete cover.
