An open-web steel joist is reinforced with an additional diagonal web member consisting of a 2x2x3/16-inch angle minimum. This reinforcement accommodates a concentrated load of up to 100 pounds maximum applied at the joist top chord. The new diagonal member is positioned within six inches of the existing web panel point.
