A steel column supports a steel beam and joist girder at an expansion joint with a three-inch separation. The steel beam features a seven-and-a-half-inch deep girder bearing end secured with two three-quarter-inch diameter A325 erection bolts. The steel column top plate is fastened using four three-quarter-inch diameter A325N bolts, complemented by two six-inch by three-quarter-inch stiffener plates with spacing coordinated with the joist manufacturer. The joist girder connects to the column with a stabilizer plate measuring three-quarters of an inch by six inches by zero feet six inches, left unwelded to the girder typically. A metal roof deck spans above the assembly.
