About this detail

An exterior foundation grade beam and slab-on-grade connection is reinforced with a double-angle steel strut. The assembly features a continuous concrete footing with #5 reinforcing bars placed at twelve inches on center with one-foot clearance from the footing edge, along with four continuous #5 top and bottom bars. The double-angle strut is anchored within the grade beam, which includes a blockout as required and a construction joint roughened to one-quarter inch minimum amplitude. A slab on grade ties into the assembly with #4 bars spaced at eighteen inches on center extending three feet minimum into the slab. Exterior flatwork transitions at the building perimeter where indicated by architectural and civil drawings.
