A wide flange beam frames into a weak-way hollow structural section column with a three-quarter inch seat plate welded to the column top. Four three-quarter inch diameter bolts secure the beam flange to the seat plate with a beam gauge less than or equal to four and a half inches. Full-depth three-eighth inch plates are attached to each side or as a full-depth shear plate with five-sixteenth inch fillet welds at the flanges and web. Four seven-eighth inch diameter typical bolts fasten the connection assembly. A half-inch minimum clearance is maintained.
