An eighteen gauge cold-rolled channel spans horizontally through cold-formed steel studs and is supported by clip angles at each stud intersection. Two number ten self-drilling screws secure the channel to the clip angle and the clip angle to the stud web typically at each connection. The clip angle length is sized to eighty percent of the stud depth.
