A concrete trench pit recessed into a concrete slab is topped with a metal grating. The pit walls and base are reinforced with number four bars spaced at twelve inches on center each way, centered within the wall unless noted otherwise, with continuous number four bars extending into the surrounding slab. The slab thickness and reinforcement are sized per plan, with maximum pit depth dimensions established at four feet unless noted otherwise and base slab thickness at eight inches. The grating rests in a rebate at the top of the concrete pit walls.
