A Simpson SCB45.5 bypass clip connects cold-formed steel studs to the perimeter concrete slab over metal deck and a supporting wide-flange steel beam. The clip attaches to the stud using two screws and fastens to the steel structure with four SST 0.157-inch powder-actuated fasteners. The clip is welded top and bottom at the heel side with a one-eighth-inch fillet weld when the powder-actuated fasteners fail to fully seat into the steel at each stud.
