Wide-flange beams frame into opposite sides of a wide-flange column using shear plates connected with bolts. Coped continuous plates are welded at the top and bottom of the column flanges to maintain load transfer across the joint. All complete joint penetration welds are specified to be completed prior to bolt tensioning. Perpendicular framing is omitted for clarity.
