A wide-flange steel transfer beam and column connection features a continuous plate with a PTFE surface sliding bearing pad supporting a wide-flange stub and bridge upturned wide-flange beam. The connection utilizes a 3/8-inch by 4-inch typical shear plate with erection bolts, a 3/8-inch bottom plate that is 9.5 inches wide, and shim plates with an 8-inch width. Five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds and full-depth partial-joint-penetration welds secure the steel elements together. Erection bolts are provided as required, and concrete on the metal deck is omitted for clarity.
