A roof deck bears on the top flange of a wide flange steel beam requiring a minimum two-inch bearing width. A continuous one-quarter-inch thick bent plate attaches to the beam flange with a three-sixteenths-inch fillet weld at two inches to twelve inches spacing. The offset dimension for the bent plate requires verification based on the carried load. Architectural coordination is required for the twelve-inch maximum dimension.
