Beam web stiffener plates and column continuity plates are provided for a steel wide-flange connection. The beam web receives three-eighth-inch stiffener plates on each side of the web unless noted otherwise, welded with a quarter-inch fillet weld held back one-quarter inch from the coped edge. The wide-flange column features continuity plates matching the thickness of the connecting beam flange, welded with five-sixteenth-inch fillets at the web and complete joint penetration welds elsewhere. Continuity plates include a one-half-inch radius and may extend beyond the column flange up to three-quarters of an inch at the contractor's option.
