A buckling-restrained braced frame column base plate connection is anchored to an embed plate with welded rebar. The steel column is welded to a base plate using complete joint penetration welds on the flanges and five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds on the web, executed per D1.8-DCW seismic requirements. Square grade fifty washer plates measuring one by five inches with standard holes are provided typically at the anchor locations per AISC recommendations. A large embed plate measuring one by twenty-seven inches by two feet six inches is centered on the column and anchored with thirty-five number six welded rebar spaced at four inches each way below the plate. A two-inch diameter grout hole is located typically through the base plate. A gusset plate for the buckling-restrained brace extends from the column, detailed per the brace manufacturer.
