A hollow structural section gravity column bears on a steel embed base plate anchored into concrete per plan. Four three-quarter-inch diameter by eight-inch long Nelson studs are welded to the underside of the base plate for concrete anchorage. The hollow structural section column is finished to bear directly on the plate and is welded per sheet reference details. Embed base plate dimensions are provided per plan specifications, maintaining a one-and-a-half-inch typical edge distance to the column centerline.
