Continuity plates are installed between steel beam flanges at a vertical offset connection across a steel column web and flange. The fifty KSI continuity plates have a thickness equal to the greater beam flange thickness plus one-eighth inch. Top and bottom beam flanges connect to the plates using complete joint penetration welds typically with one-inch returns. Fillet welds of five-sixteenth inch size are applied to the shear tabs with three inches minimum clearance where offset.
