A steel column bears on a base plate atop a reinforced concrete column, secured by heavy anchor bolts with custom plate washers. One-inch non-shrink grout fills the space beneath the base plate. Half-inch stiffener plates are welded to each side of the column web and flange, aligned with the anchor bolts with their corners clipped as required. One-and-one-quarter-inch diameter anchor bolts embed eight feet into the concrete column and are surrounded by number five ties spaced at four inches on center. Column reinforcement is omitted for clarity with reference made to structural sheet S60-00. Five-sixteenths-inch and one-quarter-inch fillet welds secure the column and stiffener plates.
