A hollow structural section brace connects to a structural steel column through a three-eighths-inch thick gusset plate. An intersecting hollow structural section beam frames into the assembly with a three-quarter-inch clearance and is supported by connection angles measuring L3x2x3/8 by one foot zero inches on each side. Fillet welds of quarter-inch and three-sixteenth-inch sizes secure the plates and angles. Spray-applied fire-resistant material is specified across the steel components.
