An HSS 5x5 structural steel beam with a three-eighths-inch end plate is sized per plan and connects to a matching working point. A quarter-inch gusset plate measuring six by six inches is centered on the beam to receive an L4x4x3/8 structural steel kicker angle. The kicker angle is welded to the gusset plate using three-sixteenths-inch fillet welds, with weld sizes and locations specified around the connection. The end plate is welded to the beam web and flange with a three-sixteenths-inch fillet weld.
