A buckling-restrained brace connects to a hollow structural section column sized per plan. A half-inch thick plate nineteen inches high and a half-inch thick plate nine inches high attach to the column with five-sixteenth inch fillet welds along three sides typically. Half-inch thick stiffener plates are provided on each side of the connection. The buckling-restrained brace is detailed per sheet S-8.1.
