These structural details illustrate hollow structural section members framing into a supporting hollow structural section column or beam using structural angles and connection plates. A bottom seat angle supports the framing member, sized as a four-by-four by three-eighths inch angle for member depths between four and six inches, or a six-by-six by three-eighths inch angle for depths greater than six inches, with six-inch lengths. A three-eighths inch plate or top angle element provides top restraint and alignment as specified by the plan. Fillet welds of one-quarter inch size secure the connection angles and plates to the structural steel members.
