A buckling-restrained brace connects to the weak-way of a wide-flange beam sized per plan. A gusset plate connects the brace to the underside of the beam, secured with typical welds specified by the manufacturer. One-half-inch stiffener plates are welded to the web of the beam with five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds on three sides typical. Additional larger stiffeners may be used where required by the brace manufacturer. A note indicates the detail is similar where the brace connection is to the top of the beam.
