A braced frame connection occurs at a steel column and beam intersection. A 1/2-inch thick gusset plate connects to the structural tee or brace member per elevation, with 1/4-inch fillet welds on near and far sides. The column size is determined per plan, while the beam connects via a Typical Type C1 connection using two bolts for W10 sections or three bolts for W12 sections. A 2-inch clearance is maintained between the beam flange and the gusset plate connection.
