A continuous wide-flange beam bears upon a hollow structural section column sized per plan. The connection utilizes L8x4x1/2 angles placed on each side of the HSS column, secured with two three-quarter-inch diameter A325 bolts positioned at the bottom of vertical short slot holes measuring one and a half inches. A one-quarter-inch shim space is detailed between components, with a one-inch clearance space maintained. Three-eighths-inch stiffener plates are welded to both sides of the web with three-sixteenths-inch welds on three sides. Five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds connect the seat angles.
