Concrete floor slab edge conditions and framing requirements for interior openings of various sizes. Openings between six inches and two feet require Type A reinforcing consisting of typical #4 bars placed parallel and perpendicular to the steel deck flutes, with specific clearance dimensions maintained. Openings larger than two feet require edge framing composed of C4x5.4 and C8x11.5 channel sections secured with two-bolt single row bolted connections. Corner bars including one #4 by three foot or four foot lengths are provided at all inside corners depending on the opening size. General notes specify block-out procedures prior to concrete placement and subsequent steel deck cutting after seven days of curing.
