A steel column bears on a steel base plate set upon a one-and-a-half-inch layer of non-shrink grout over a concrete footing. Anchor bolts embedded in the concrete footing secure the base plate and column assembly. A concrete pour-back surrounds the base of the column between the adjacent concrete slab on grade. The concrete footing maintains a three-inch minimum concrete cover over the reinforcing steel.
