This structural detail provides reinforcing layouts around slab openings in reinforced concrete construction. Two number five top and bottom bars extend forty-eight inches diagonally at each corner of the opening. Perimeter reinforcement on all sides provides top and bottom bars equal to one-half the area of slab reinforcement cut by the opening, with a minimum of two number five top and bottom bars. Trim reinforcing extends two feet minimum past adjacent openings when they are closer than the smaller opening dimension. A one-and-one-half-inch typical clearance is maintained around the opening.
