A seismic force-resisting system bracing connection occurs at a wide-flange steel column and beam intersection. A hollow structural section brace connects to a three-eighths-inch Grade 50 gusset plate welded directly to the column and beam flanges with quarter-inch fillet welds. The supporting beam connects to the column flange using a three-eighths-inch plate fastened with two rows of A325 slip-critical bolts. Fillet welds of quarter-inch and five-sixteenths-inch sizes secure the gusset plate and framing members in accordance with the structural drawings.
