Three hollow structural section braces frame into a wide-flange steel beam using three-eighths-inch thick gusset plates. The gusset plates connect to the top and bottom flanges of the beam with one-quarter-inch fillet welds on both the top and bottom. A three-quarter-inch clearance gap is maintained between the brace ends and the connection assembly. The hollow structural section braces are sized per plan and welded at each end.
