A concrete slab over metal floor deck bears against the steel column flange and framing members. A structural steel beam connects to the steel column using a bolted shear connection with multiple bolts. An angled bracket or stiffener is welded to the column flange with a three-sixteenths inch fillet weld typical. Dimensions provide a twelve to twenty-eight inch span range with a six inch adjustment for architectural clearance.
