A glulam beam bears onto a hollow structural section 102x102x6.4 column with an 16 millimeter bearing plate. The timber member is connected via a slotted 8 millimeter knife plate inserted into the end of the beam. Two through bolts secure the timber to the knife plate, spaced vertically at 150 millimeters within the upper two-thirds of the beam depth. Connection loads and specific layout requirements are governed by the accompanying plan and schedule.
