Double HSS9x5 columns are centered and welded to an A36 base plate measuring 1/2 inch by 12 inches by 1 foot 8 inches. The connection is secured by six 3/4-inch diameter by 1-foot-long embed anchor bolts placed with a typical 1 1/2-inch clearance. A 1/4-inch fillet weld is specified on three sides of each column. A maximum 1/4-inch gap is maintained between the structural members.
