A steel column connects to a steel base plate resting on a layer of non-shrink grout over a reinforced concrete pier. The column is secured with three-quarter-inch Grade fifty-five anchor rods having a one-foot two-inch embedment depth. Each anchor rod features a four-inch by quarter-inch by four-inch plate washer with double nuts typically. Vertical concrete pier reinforcement extends down into the concrete footing with three ties located in the top five inches of the concrete pier. The concrete footing maintains a three-inch cover over the bottom reinforcement bars.
