A wide flange beam connects to a structural steel tube column using a single plate shear connection with specified bolt counts and plate thickness. The top flange of the beam is coped to clear the column and stiffeners. When the beam occurs on one side only and the dimension is between six and twelve inches, a three-sixteenth-inch full-height stiffener is provided. Additional three-eighth-inch full-height stiffeners are placed on each side of the column flange centered on the column axis.
