Steel joists frame into a steel joist girder at a grid line. A 3/8" x 3" x 1'-0" A36 steel tie plate centers over the joist girder top chord. A continuous 3x wood nailer matches the joist chord width and fastens through the joist top chord with two #14 wood screws at 24" on center. Steel joists attach to the joist girder with a 1/4" fillet weld at 3" long, typical. The tie plate attaches to the joist girder with a 3/16" fillet weld at 4" long, typical. Roof sheathing installs over the wood purlins and nailers as specified per plan.
