Steel wide-flange beams connect to a supporting wide-flange column or beam web using bolted connection plates sized per the connection schedule. The supported steel beam is shown with a coped top and bottom flange as required, aligning with a one-and-a-half-inch minimum and one-and-three-quarter-inch clearance from the center line of the wide-flange beam. A web stiffener plate measuring three-eighths of an inch is welded on three sides per the schedule and detail requirements. Fastener requirements and plate thicknesses are governed by the beam web connection schedule.
