This structural section detail shows the reinforcement of an existing hollow structural section column using four corner reinforcing angles and four splice plates. The existing hollow structural section column is centered on orthogonal reference axes, with reinforcing angles positioned at each of the four 90-degree corners. Splice plates are welded or fastened across the assembly with typical one-half-inch clearances indicated between components. The assembly relies on structural steel members sized per the reference plan.
