A wide-flange beam web connects to a gusset plate at a buckling-restrained braced frame column, with provisions for a shim plate between the beam web and shear plate where required. Complete-joint-penetration welds attach plates to the column web and flanges, maintaining specified clearances near the column K-area and weld access holes. Erection bolts are omitted for clarity. Centerline alignment requires centering the wide-flange beam on the gusset plate within a one-quarter inch tolerance.
