A steel tube beam connects to a structural steel beam via interior sleeve plates. Three-eighths-inch-thick sleeve plates are placed on both sides of the tube beam and extend at least three inches into the connection. Three-sixteenths-inch fillet welds secure the sleeve plates to the supporting steel beam and the adjoining steel tube beam.
