A concrete slab-on-grade control joint features smooth dowels measuring three-quarters of an inch in diameter by twelve inches long spaced at twelve inches on center centered across the joint line with one end greased to allow movement. The joint receives a sawcut of one-third the slab thickness performed within twelve hours of the concrete pour. Slab reinforcement terminates one and a half inches from the sawcut on each side. The assembly bears on a prepared subgrade per the soils report with slab thickness sized per plan.
