A steel column is anchored within a slab on grade blockout, featuring a column base plate resting on grout with a minimum three-inch clearance. The blockout is filled with concrete after the slab is cast and the column base plate is grouted. When blockout dimensions exceed two feet six inches each way, the assembly requires #4 reinforcement ties at the top. A slab on grade construction joint surrounds the blockout area, maintaining a one-foot minimum lap for reinforcing bars. The top of foundation level is indicated, while anchor bolts and footings are omitted from this view.
