A braced frame bottom gusset plate connection occurs at a beam intersection. Three-quarter-inch top and bottom gusset plates connect to the structural steel beam using five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. Diagonal and vertical members intersect at a common work point with specified clearances, including a one-inch minimum clearance typical and three-inch clearance at the bottom gusset. Welds between the gusset plates and the beam are specified with five-sixteenth-inch sizing typical unless noted otherwise.
