A thickened edge for a concrete slab on grade incorporates a continuous number four top reinforcing bar with splice length development, and two continuous number four bottom reinforcing bars with splice length development. Transverse number four bars are spaced at eighteen inches on center. The thickened edge features an eighteen-inch vertical depth and an eighteen-inch base width with a 1:1 slope transition up to the standard slab thickness.
