An interior concrete slab on grade and an exterior slab meet at a concrete wall supported by a concrete footing. The concrete wall has horizontal wall reinforcement and vertical dowels matching the vertical wall reinforcement. The cold joint between the wall and slabs is roughened to a quarter-inch amplitude. Continuous reinforcing is placed at the top and bottom of the slabs.
